Virtually Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This Year

Celebrate Dr. King's legacy as a social justice activist and learn how you can be active in social justice today.

This innovative program will highlight Bryan Lee, founder of Colloqate Designs, Sophia Rabinovitz, artistic director of Artivism Dance, and Nicole Deggins from Sista Midwife Productions and their work as advocates for social justice, and will feature local artists Sunni Patterson, Casmé, Rahim, Cassie Watson Francillon, T-Ray the Violinist, and DJ Chinua.

Part 1 will be available here for schools and families to share on Thursday, January 14 at 10am. Part 2 will be posted here on Friday, January 15 at 10am. Both events will also be posted on the African American Resource Collection Facebook page.

Hammer of Civil Rights - National Conference of Artists Annual MLK, Jr. Exhibit
The 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Art Exhibition celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. King through the interpretation of emerging and veteran visual artists.

The featured artist exhibiting at Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center is New Orleans native, painter, muralist, illustrator, designer, and educator Jamar Pierre. With over twenty years of professional visual art experience, Pierre’s extensive portfolio includes both corporate and private commissions, public murals, and the official print for the New Orleans tricentennial.

This exhibit will be available here on Saturday, January 16 at 10am.
